My paintings are usually created out of an almost automatic

and subconscious method. Meaning, I begin a piece without any

preconceived ideas or images. I just begin to paint. I allow the shear

act of painting to dictate the  what images emerge and occur. For me,

this is very exciting because it generates many surprises. In this way,

my work always seems to have a measure of spontaneity and

freshness. Painting, in my case, is all about inquiry and discovery,

whether it be internal or external. It is always about questioning and

re-evaluating life. Life is a mystery to me and that is perhaps why I

paint. I paint to be part of that mystery.
